Well, what about those who can’t stream? Can’t we not have a share of the joy? How else are we able to enjoy the drama if Zenith won’t release softsubs? I am aware of another subbing team working on it but they’re uploading really large files!
(…And to add to what Bio saying…) Videos get removed for copyright claims all the time. Should I name all the channels on viki that have been abandoned and are full of broken links? Some of us might have the luxury of streaming now, but you can’t say for certain we will be able to in 6 months or so. You can’t say for certain those viki volunteers helping out on the channel now will be available later on to upload, segment and sub again if something goes wrong.
I want to put Bu Bu Jing Xin on the back burner, but I’m a little scared to because I’ve seen too many channels on viki with broken links get abandoned. That’s one of the reasons why I (and probably a good number of us) like having soft subs as a back-up.
I hope you can understand where I’m coming from.
@SprinkledPink: The reason why the team decided not to release softsubs is the fear of others stealing the subs and hardsubbing them or using them for profit or gain. There have been many incidents of this and when they happened, it depreciates the volunteers’ hard work when people steal without giving proper credit. This wouldn’t be the issue if people were more courteous, but because of a few – majority of us have to suffer.
If you are afraid of the channel being abandoned or will have broken links, then the best thing I can suggest is to watch it while you can and inform others to watch it now; instead of waiting 6 months or so. If you keep the channel alive and active on viki, then the volunteers will have reasons to keep the channel updated and prevent it from having broken links. Give them a reason for continuing giving you free English subs.
@Bio: There is a group hardsubbing it and streaming on their account if you don’t want to download the large file. Maybe if you kindly request the viki team to release hardsubbed version, they might reconsider…
Not everyone has the time to watch now. Maybe some other person would discover BBJX months after today and then they’d figure the videos aren’t working anymore. And no, as long a drama isn’t being properly licenced in ViKi, it won’t have the “volunteers-coming-back-to-channel” treatment. If you were the uploader for BBJX, would you still go back to the channel months from now if you found out one video link is already broken? Most likely not, especially if you’re working on another drama already. I’ve experienced even PM-ing mods, channel managers, uploaders for them to go back to one drama they’ve worked with (and that was one popular channel back in the day)… but what did I get? “I don’t have the raws anymore, sorry.”
I did mention knowing about the other subbing group that is working with BBJX so you didn’t have to mention that. They provide too large files!
If the ViKi team releases a hardsubbed version, then those files released would still be susceptible to stealing, no? Korean dramas have softsubs being released. What’s the difference? It’s just the BBJX ViKi team is being selfish about it, just like most Taiwanese channels there. They think that everybody can stream when not everybody can.
Either way, some others are using the ViKi videos already for gain. Embedding them on websites with ads would make them gain money, right?
Uhm, Bio and Ivanie, this isn’t a place where you two can ‘argue’. Last time I checked, this is a ‘requests’ page, and not an ‘arguing-all-you-can’ page.

Zenith, this is your blog so you can delete whatever comments you want. This wasn’t meant to be an argument. Someone was kind to mention that our team (BBJX at Viki) have decided not to release softsubs and for people to respect that decision. The argument starts when the posters here blatantly disrespect our team. I cannot witness our team being called “selfish” and not respond. If you don’t want that kind of comments then you are free to delete them. Of course there are nicer/politer ways of telling us not to argue on here, but your blog, your rules.
With that said, I hope that you will not create/release BBJX softsubs from our work in Viki. I’ve saw your latest post on how people were reuploading your softsubs so I’m sure you know the feeling of having people “stealing” your (kind of) work and not following your rules. Therefore I hope you would show us the same respect and courtesy that you want by respecting our decision in not having softsubs release.

Video files are most likely to have the same timing. With S2’s subs are excellent. Have you tried using them? I don’t see the need ripping from Viki when there are already subs available. have you tried using them?
i did, but there’s a difference about 5 seconds and sometimes it’s 10 seconds, it’s really hard to catch up
Is the length difference uniform throughout one episde? Thatβs easy to correct in Aegisub or any app that works with subtitleβ¦ Too bad I donβt have the 720p raws anymore, I couldβve resynced for you. π¦

Would you please consider providing the subs for episodes 11-13? Someone else did 1-10, but quit because the subs suddenly began showing up on sites that use ad-fly links to make money off the downloads. It doesn’t matter to me of the subs are retimed or not. I can do the retiming. I just really really really wish someone would teach me how to get viki subs myself, then I wouldn’t pester others to do it for me. π I just want a complete set of softsubs for myself, so that me and my family & friends can watch the entire show with the better quality raws. If you would consider doing this, I would greatly appreciate it!!

Please, please, do this one! My internet is super slow and sometimes when I load the videos on viki, my internet got disconnected, and so, I have to load the videos again. It’s really frustrating!
